Ranged weapons are a context type in Unturned 3. They represent one of the two general weapon types, the other being melee weapons, and are projectile-based. Ranged weapons are capable of dealing damage over significant distances, and have a multitude of varying statistics.
Similar to most other context types, ranged weapons are affected by quality. After a certain point in degradation, their bullet spread will eventually begin to increase while their damage decreases.
Unlike melee weapons, ranged weapons are affected by recoil, ballistics, and other statistics. However, unlike melee weapons, some can damage any normally invulnerable barricades and structures.
All ranged weapons require a magazine attachment to function. Some ranged weapons accept a larger variety of magazine attachments than others, which can be found and used instead of its default.
As with all items, ranged weapons are split into rarities. With the exception of the Shadowstalker Mk. II, ranged weapons are found in common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary rarities.
Classification:
Ranged weapons can be broken down into more specific classifications based on core characteristics, with a few being more generalized than others. There are ten classifications of ranged weapons: handguns, carbines, assault rifles, rifles, sharpshooter rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns, machine guns, bows, and miscellaneous ranged weapons.
Data:
Ranged weapons have a lot more statistics than other items. Aside from the normal statistics on most items, and on weaponry generally, there's several specific to ranged weapons. Most statistical data is directly from the .dat files.
Hooks:
Some ranged weapons can allow hook attachments, which consist of barrel attachments, grip attachments, sight attachments, and tactical attachments. Depending on the ranged weapon, certain hook attachments cannot be equipped at all. Most ranged weapons, however, will spawn with an exclusive sight attachment.
Fire Modes:
There are four different fire modes in Unturned 3: safety, semi, burst, and auto.
- Safety disables the ability to fire your ranged weapon, and changes your stance to reflect this by pointing the weapon downwards.
- Semi fires a single round per click.
- Burst fires a predetermined set amount of rounds with a single click.
- Auto continuously fires rounds until the player chooses to release the firing button, or until the magazine attachment is empty.
RPS:
RPS is an abbreviation of "rounds per second." It is the output of the calculations made with the firerate value in a ranged weapon's dat file.
RPS = 1 / (firerate * 0.02)
Firerate is inversely proportionate to RPS, causing higher firerate values to lead to less RPS and a lower firerate value provide higher RPS.
Negation:
In most cases, stuctures and barricades are invulnerable. However, some ranged weapons have the capability to negate their invulnerability. The following ranged weapons bypass invulnerability with no special magazine attachments:
- Dagger
- Dragonfang
- Ekho
- Grizzly
- HMG
- HMG (Fighter Jet)
- Hollowcharge
- Judgement
- Lancer
- Matamorez
- Mutiple Rocket Launch System
- Rocket Launcher
- Shadowstalker
- Shadowstalker Mk. II
- Tank Cannon
- Timberwolf
With the use of specific magazine attachments, the following may also bypass invulnerability:
- Augewehr
- Birch Bow
- Chimera
- Compound Bow
- Crossbow
- Eaglefire
- Fusilaut
- Heartbreaker
- Maple Bow
- Maplestrike
- Nightraider
- PDW
- Pine Bow
- Swissgewehr
Caliber:
Ranged weapons have calibers assigned to them that decides what magazine attachments and barrel attachments are allowed to be equipped. Some ranged weapons may have their own exclusive caliber, meanwhile others may share calibers.

Ranged weapons are effective at taking enemies quickly and from a distance. To do so they need a Magazine Attachment to function, and each weapon uses a different kind. Some ranged weapons have several types of ammunition such as a shotgun, which can fire buckshot(12 widespread low damage pellets) or slugs(single high-damage bullet). Ranged weapons can also have attachments added to them, in the form of sights, tacticals, grips, and barrels.

Table Notes
Damage
The damage is the base value used by the game - however, the damage might be reduced by the type of the target or other factors like the players clothing or skills. For more details how to calculate damage, refer to this page: Damage.
Rarity
The rarity of each weapon is listed by an abbreviated code, as listed in the following table.
Shotgun Damage
Shotguns have varying damage depending on which shotgun is being used and how many pellets hit per shot. A buckshot holds 12 pellets, so it can deal from 16% to 240% damage with one buckshot round; a slug round compacts all that power into a single projectile. All shotgun damage is being calculated using buckshot in the table.

Trivia:
- If guns had no model, you would see the bullet load into and eject out of the chamber when shot. This can be seen with the Lever Action in Unturned Classic if you aim down sights and jump.
- The Crossbow Barrel is counted as an internal suppressor, like the Honeybadger_Barrel or Matamorez_Barrel.
- When it comes to Ranged Weaponry, if a gun is no bigger than 6 slots, it can be used as a secondary. This means any carbine/submachine gun (PDW, Viper, Yuri, Peacemaker), handgun (Ace, Cobra, 1911, Avenger, Desert Falcon, Kryzkarek), and the Sawed-Off version of the Masterkey are possible secondary weapons. This can be used for changes in battleground and encounters, such as a Sniper+Carbine Combo for long range, and a Shotgun+SMG combo for close range, for example.
- All Assault Rifles labeled Military share the same ammo clip. This includes the Eaglefire, the Maplestrike, and the Heartbreaker. The PDW, though a carbine, also can utilize the 30 Round Military Magazine or the 100 Round Military Drum shared by the Military Assault Rifles. These weapons to be the only weapons besides the bows to share a ammo type.
