Introduction[]
HUD is short for Heads Up Display. It contains information about the player's health, thirst, hunger, and others. It can be hidden using the Home key (by default). This will also hide any menus. Purchasing the Permanent Gold Upgrade DLC allows for customizing the color of the HUD.
Health[]
This indicates the amount of health the player currently has. It is depleted by taking damage, among other factors. It can be regenerated if the players hunger and thirst are above 50% or by using Medical Supplies.
Hunger[]
The hunger level of the player. The more filled this meter is, the more hunger the player has. When it reaches 100%, the player will start losing health until they die of hunger or eat something.
Thirst[]
The thrist level of the player. The more filled this meter is, the more thirst the player has. When it reaches 100%, the player will start losing blood until they die of dehydration or drink something. Having a canteen is great advantage to keep this meter as low as possible.
Sickness[]
The sickness level of the player. The more filled this meter is, the more sick the player is. When it reaches 100%, the player will start losing blood until they die of sickness or lower the meter. The meter is filled by being attacked by zombies, eating moldy food, among other factors. It can be lowered by using items such as vitamins or a vaccine.
Stamina[]
The stamina level of the player. It is lowered by running, jumping and using the power attack with a melee weapon. With the Endurance skill at max level, jumping and using the power attack will not lower stamina. The meter is filled naturally over time, or by consuming items such as the Energy Drink.
Status Effects[]
There are currently two known status effects that can happen to the player.
Bleeding[]
Bleeding will cause the player to rapidly start loosing blood (as the name suggests). It is started by being shot or stepping on a trap, such as a caltrop. It is removed using items such as a bandage, or waiting.
Broken Leg[]
Broken Leg will make the player unable to run or jump. It caused by falling large distances. It is cured instantly by using a splint and morphine, but it can cure itself over time.
Vehicle status HUD elements[]
There are some extra HUD elements that appear under certain conditions (i.e.: Driving a car)
Speed[]
Indicates the current speed of the car. Some cars are able to go faster then others.
Fuel[]
Indicates the fuel level of the car. The fuel tank can be refilled using gas cans.
Others[]
There are other HUD elements apart from player/vehicle status.
Weapon status[]
This is an indicator that shows up on the top right of the screen when yielding a firearm. To the left, it shows the amount of bullets and the capacity of the clip, (in the case of the image to the right, it's a full NATO drum). On the right, it indicates the weapon mode.
Interaction[]
This is an interation indicator that shows above the status bar when looking at an interactible object. A similar box also shows up indicating the full/empty state of a container, such as a canteen or a gas can.
Trivia[]
